Accelerated BSN program adds summer start window

֭Ƶ is adding an additional layer of convenience to its nursing program with the introduction of a summer start in the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing major.

Effective immediately the program features three start windows: the traditional January and August starts, and now a May start.

The third start window was implemented to increase convenience for students, said Gina Crawford, dean of ֭Ƶ’s Kramer School of Nursing.

“We aim to meet students where they are and provide an education that helps them achieve their career goals,” Crawford said. “Everyone’s schedule and timeline is unique, so we want to make our programs as flexible and attainable as possible.”

֭Ƶ introduced the state’s first 12-month accelerated BSN degree in September 2023. The first cohort of students started classes in January 2024. The university celebrated the first class of accelerated BSN graduates in December, with cohort members far exceeding the national NCLEX pass rate and finding immediate employment ֭Ƶ.

The university aides accelerated BSN students by providing straightforward pricing and aggressive scholarships based off students’ college transfer GPA. For example, students transferring into the program with a 3.6 or greater GPA receive an automatic $17,250 scholarship – equivalent to a more than 40% discount off the total program price.

The pricing, convenience and flexibility of the accelerated BSN program helps support the overall ֭Ƶ goal of producing well-prepared graduates who can address the nation’s nursing shortage.

“We launched the program with that goal in mind – addressing the health care needs of our community,” Crawford said. “We’re pleased to continue to play that role while providing even more access to quality nursing education.”
